Tomei's solid pivot kit has been designed and tested for high RPM and high horsepower applications.
In order to make cam clearance maintenance-free and quieter in operation, the hydraulic lash adjuster was adopted for the SR20 engine. However when aiming for higher RPM ranges and for higher horsepower, it is important to improve the reliability of cylinder head system parts and to make valvetrain set correctly for the suited cam profile. So it is necessary to eliminate the use of the hydraulic lash adjusters. Tomei have adopted the solid pivot system to enable adequate cam clearance adjustments while keeping total height of pivot of each cylinder fixed. Therefore it is possible to build a more precise head system in a shorter time compared to the other conventional methods. Improvements in the reliability and lower pricing were made possible at the same time by having reduced the number of parts required.
